Designer Drinks? – Your Guide to a Scorching Summer Body

 In Blog

You are doing a great job watching what you eat, whole foods, go you! You should know how designer drinks can sabotage your body composition and your scorching summer body. I see so many folks complaining about their body composition while sipping on a “crappacino” they purchased from the local coffee shop and I wonder if they realize that this habit is harmful to their health.  Beware.  Most versions of these flavored designer drinks have tons of sugar and calories in them and can derail a perfectly good diet. I have compared some of these drinks with candy that most of you can identify with. I have also thrown in some popular energy drinks as well. Check it out:

Snickers Candy bar: 1 = 250 calories
Starbucks White Hot Chocolate With Whole Milk and Whipped Cream 20 Oz (venti) 520 calories = 2 Snickers bars!

Reeses Peanut Butter Cups = 210 (1 package, 2 pieces)
Starbucks White Hot Chocolate with Whole Milk and Whipped Cream 20 0z (venti) = 640 calories = 6 Reeses Peanut Butter Cups!

Other Starbucks Gems:
Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha (grande): 400 calories
Salted Caramel Mocha 16 oz (grande): 330 calories

1 cup of miniature marshmallows is 159 calories! Imagine eating 1 cup of marshmallows instead of one of these popular cold drinks, yuk:

Vitamine Water 20 oz = 120 calories
Red Bull 8.3 oz =115 calories
Monster Energy 16 oz = 200 calories

As you can see, designer drinks can easily add up to dominate your calorie intake for the day. Is the worst part the fat? NO! The worst part is the sugar! And even worse; the lack of nutrients versus the amount of calories these beverages contain is almost criminal. What is the solution? Don’t use drinks as snacks or meal replacement. Stick to water, and make your own tea and coffee at home so that you know what’s in it! There is no doubt that these drinks are yummy, but if you are looking forward to a scorching beach body, you’ll have to leave them at the shop, or don’t go there in the first place!
